Looking for a place to get a quick bite around Royal Oak. Here are some of my favorite fast casual spots to grab a bite to eat whether its a quick lunch or late night these places won’t disappoint. 

Here is the low down:

Breakfast: O.W.L. or Village Grill

Lunch: Oak House Deli, Chicken Shack, or Village Grill

Dinner: Any of them!

Why I Love It:

It’s a Mexican-American diner like no other. The flavor combinations are unusual for some dishes but taste awesome. Great for breakfast, daytime quick bite or late night! 

Must Order Dish:

Double Layer Nachos: sausage chili, poblano cheese sauce, cabbage, pico, cilantro & radishes ($11)

Chicken Fried Chicken: sesame bun, cheese, sauce & pickles ($10)

Habanero & Cheese Egg Sandwich: sesame cemita roll & cheese spread ($6)

About Village Grill

We serve happiness to our customers with our delicious, quality meals and extraordinary restaurant experience while giving back to our employees, community and environment.

Why I Love It:

When you think Village Grill, think neighborhood diner. This place serves a wide variety of foods that no matter what you are in the mood for you will find something for everyone. Portion sizes here are very generous. I mainly go here for breakfast/lunch which will reflect in my must order dishes.

Must Order Dish:

Corned Beef Skillet Breakfast: Corned beef, onions, green peppers and cheddar cheese. Includes eggs cooked to order on top and toast and jelly. ($12.95)

Western Quesadilla Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, onions and green pepper served quesadilla style with hash browns. ($12.95)

Breakfast Burrito: Eggs, cheese, onions, green peppers and choice of ham, bacon or sausage served in a burrito shell. ($13.50)

Hawaiian Salad: Lettuce, chicken breast, ham, pineapple, Swiss cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes and pita. ($14.50)

About Little Bros Burgers

Compact counter-service joint with limited seating supplying burgers, sliders, fries & shakes.

Why I Love It:

It’s a very what you see is what you get type place and that’s what I love. A sack of burgers and fries is really where it’s at, I honestly have never gotten anything else, if it’s not broken don’t fix it.

Must Order Dish:

Sack of 6 Sliders: All sliders are served with ketchup, mustard, pickles and grilled onions. ($13.99)

Outdoor patio area available for seating and not really a dine in area to eat. You can order on their website both pick up and delivery.

Open on Friday and Saturdays until 2:30am. 

Also don’t go into it thinking you’re going to get a shake, I’ve never see the shake machine not out of order. lol

About Chicken Shack

Chicken Shack is an American restaurant chain. The first branch was opened in Royal Oak, Michigan by John and Iola Sobeck in 1956. Today, the chain has 21 locations in the Metro Detroit area.

Why I Love It:

Quick, easy, and delicious.

About Oak House Deli

Brewpub with a heated beer garden offers beer on tap alongside a from-scratch American menu.

Why I Love It:

Casual fun spot to brewery that happens to have an impressive food menu. They also have a great, slightly hidden, outdoor seating area which is rare to find in Royal Oak and noteworthy during beautiful Michigan months.

Must Order Dish:

Vegetarian Pesto Sandwich: Tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil pesto on sourdough. ($12.99)

Corned Beef Sandwich: Corned beef, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and yellow mustard on rye. ($12.99)
