Where To Eat

Where To Get Drinks: Royal Oak

Royal Oak has so many  great places to go grab drinks. Whether you’re looking to get all dressed up for a night out with girlfriends or hit a casual spot after work with coworkers Royal Oak has a wide variety of places to go that won’t disappoint. Below are some of my favorite places to go and what I love about them.

Elephant & Co.

About Elephant & Co.

Michigan’s first self-service taproom serving beer from Eastern Market Brewing Co. and Ferndale Project.

Why I Love It:

If you remember the old Roak Brewery in Royal Oak, this location was bought by Eastern Market Brewery and during their soft opening they informally called the joint Lincoln Tap, and has now formally been announced as Elephant & Co. Casual, laid back vibes with great energy. It’s fun to be able to try a variety of different beers without committing to a full beer.

Must Order Drink:

Lots of great options to choose from with the my favorite being the Raspberry Gose Style Tart Ale.

Numerous options to chose from including beers, cider and wine.

Cost: $

Since it’s a self pour you pay by the ounce per beverage

330 E Lincoln Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48067

Open community seating. No reservations available.

Currently can bring in your own food (or get delivery here) but is said to have Detroit style pizza by the end of year!

About Pinky’s Rooftop

Flashy destination with a terrace & playful decor offering hearty meals & a cocktail menu.

Why I Love It:

One of the only rooftop bars in Royal Oak. The drinks are so good and are really the star of the show at this restaurant.

Must Order Drink:

Sassy & Classy: 15 Altos Tequila, Red Jalapenó, Cointreau, Blackberries, Lime, Pineapple, Simple Syrup ($15)

Most drinks on the menu are sweet, if your not a fan of overly sweet I would ask your waitress for a recommendation. The sassy and classy is not overly sweet.

Specialty cocktails start at $12+

Alley Entrance, 100 S Main St Rear, Royal Oak, MI 48067

About Motor City Gas

Legal since 2015. A family owned farm distillery hand crafting a constant revolving hyper variety of grain, malt and bourbon whiskies with no set rotation. Sample up to 20 different style single barrel whiskies at a time. Sit and sip or grab a bottle to-go at our distillery tasting room in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Why I Love It:

You wouldn’t know about this place unless someone told you about it or you accidentally stumbled upon it which is one thing I love about it so much. Slightly off the beaten path this place does a fantastic job with their rotating seasonal drink menu. Important to note I’m not a huge whiskey or bourbon fan but these drinks are FANTASTIC!

Must Order Drink:

Summer Menu- Orange Creamsicle Slushy: fresh orange, vanilla, milk, and bourbon ($14) – BEST DRINK ON THE MENU, sometimes they have going into fall just ask!

Apple Sauce Moonshine ($40/fifth)

Cost: $$

Only serve spirits they make.

Craft Cocktails starting at $12+

325 E 4th St, Royal Oak, MI 48067

Reservations not available. Indoor and outdoor seating available. At times they offer a charcuterie board on their menu and occasionally team up with local food trucks to be onsite but overall I would not plan on eating here.

Why I Love It:

They have so much to choose from from beer to wine to non-alcoholic and even on draft coffee options.  I love that you can build your own flight and try a variety of different options without committing to a full size beverage.

Must Order Drink:

When I came here I was pregnant so I got the cream soda that was on tap and it was fantastic. Excited to go back when there is more I can try!
